A few years ago Glynn Ford started to plan a trip to Kongwa to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the opening of Kongwa European School, which was opened in 1948 originally for the children of the staff of the Overseas Food Corporation, 'The Ground Nut Scheme', in 1950 it became a day and boarding school for children of all regions of Tanganyika.

The plans for the trip were well underway when Glynn and his wife found they were unable to make the trip for personal reasons however a group of twelve, six ex-pupils with five partners plus Francis who was born at Kongwa but left when still a baby, were able to make the trip and this is our story.

If it hadn't been for Glynn the trip would never have taken place, we would have missed a wonderful, emotional roller coaster experience that we will never forget and the present Primary school of Mynakongo would not have the new desks and continuing support that it is now enjoying.

Glynn and others who were unable to make that trip also contributed to the funds that made it possible for us to arrange the making of desks, tables and chairs.

Thank you Glynn.

The latest addition to the site is a copy of the first Georgian Magazine - 1953 and others will follow, it is quite a laborious job photo copying and making it editable so that I can upload it onto the site and Jim/Sigurd has done a great job.

We are missing the Georgian of 1956 so if anyone has a copy of that we would love to have photo copies so that we can complete the set.

Some of you have been very kind and sent us your own memories and photos, these are all very much appreciated and I am always happy to add them to the site for everyone to share.

This site is still under construction so you will come across several empty pages and in the photo gallery the pictures are simply thumbnails just to whet your appetite and I hope that you find the contents so far interesting and worth reading.
